About

Welcome to IELTS Writing Guru — a tool designed to help learners improve their IELTS Writing Task 2 skills with expert guidance, practical feedback, and band-specific advice. This page gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how we started, who’s involved, and why we built a tool we wish existed when we were teaching IELTS students years ago.

Meet the Team Behind IELTS Writing Guru

IELTS Writing Guru is powered by three dedicated IELTS educators — Alan, Carmen, and Bruno. Between us, we’ve marked and reviewed thousands of essays over the years.

While we each bring our own personality and feedback style, we’re united by one goal: helping learners truly understand what’s holding back their writing and what they can do to improve. Whether it’s a friendly nudge, supportive encouragement, or a deep diagnostic breakdown, we’ve got you covered.

The people behind IELTS Writing Guru

What Makes Us Different

Unlike many tools that rely solely on generic AI or recycled templates, IELTS Writing Guru delivers structured feedback based on real experience and deep familiarity with IELTS criteria.

Each response is:

  • Written by an expert, not generated from a prompt
  • Tailored to the actual band level and goals of the writer
  • Designed to explain why you got your score and how to raise it

We believe that knowing your score isn’t enough. You deserve to understand your weaknesses, get practical advice, and see model rewrites or corrections — all within minutes.

Our Mission

We created IELTS Writing Guru to make quality writing feedback accessible to learners around the world — whether you’re preparing for university, migration, or career opportunities.

We want to reduce the guesswork in writing improvement. No more confusing band descriptors. No more random advice from forums. Just clear, actionable feedback that gets results.

Our long-term vision is to become the most trusted writing feedback platform for all English learners, expanding into Task 1, academic writing, and beyond.

Who We Help

Our tool is designed for learners at every level of the IELTS journey:

  • New test-takers who want to know what a Band 5 or 6 essay really looks like
  • Intermediate learners stuck at Band 6 or 6.5 and unsure what’s holding them back
  • High-achievers chasing Band 7.5+ for competitive goals like migration or university admissions

No matter where you’re starting, our aim is to give you the insights and tools to grow — not just pass the test.
